Beneath a heavy stack of paintings resting on plinths raised two or three feet from the cement floor lies a residue of hardened, resin-based blobs of paint from earlier works. These blobs vary in shape and size, having dripped onto the floor after slipping down from the edges of the canvas and plywood, forming tentacle-like strands and lengths of rubberised paint suspended in limbo. While these strands are an essential part of the artwork, I often find myself crawling beneath the stack of paintings, collecting the blobs that will be repurposed to create new paintings.
