Into the Sun: Chapter 5

Into the Sun: C.5 – It is important not to give excessive narrative. This allows the audience to craft their own story and to relate to the characters or the overarching journey, which is ultimately the project’s focus.

Choice of materials is a key aspect of making art and can take years to investigate and explore. It took a long time experimenting with various papers and inks before I felt a sense of kinship and harmony with the materials I now use for this project. The coloured ink drawings I am creating for the project “Hidden Kingdoms Shifting Worlds” tell a separate story, for which the choice of materials and techniques is entirely different. The fact that the paper is photographic adds a surreal dimension to the work. The monochrome quality of the black-and-white ink drawings makes the imagery appear as if it were reshaped or manipulated photographs.

The story continues in Chapter 6
