Shifts in Time: Autumn and Winter 2026

In Shifts in Time: Autumn and Winter, the subcategory **Shifts in Time** belongs to the category **Hidden Kingdoms, Shifting Worlds**. Individual artworks are untitled, as they form part of a larger collection of paintings organised by category and subcategory. Based primarily in the artist’s studio, the project explores painting through the interconnected themes of everyday life, trauma, conflict, survival and transformation, inspired in part by research into bacterial behaviour.

Using intense materials and processes, the paintings stage encounters between life and death and between the human and the machine. They invite audiences to reflect on connection, change, and the relationship between art and science.

** No assumptions are made about where each body of work will lead. Attention is paid to how a painting develops characteristics, contributing to a larger collective. A painting is driven by a need to be distinct from everything else; it cannot be viewed solely as a by-product or a commodity; it’s a living thing that generates life. **
