Additional Experience

The following activities were established to support the development of new artwork. This involved research, collaboration with individuals and organisations, engaging the public, teaching in universities and overseas travel. The fellowship and residencies were inspiring, challenging and unglamorous.

From 1982 – 1983

  • Visiting Lecturer: -North Staffordshire University’s Department of Fine Art; Kingston Upon Thames University’s Department of Fine Art; Falmouth School of Fine Art; and Lincoln University’s Department of Art and Design

From 1983 1984

  • Fellowship: The Artescape Trust, Lincoln “The Artescape Fellowship provided me with 18 months of seclusion to continue developing artwork inspired by my project ‘Victory and Defeat,’ which was exhibited at the RCA in 1982 and later at the Imperial War Museum, London, in 1983–84.”
  • Visiting Lecturer: -Hill was invited to tutor Honours degree students at Lincoln University’s Fine Art Department and to use the printmaking facilities as part of the fellowship.

From 1984

  • Artist In Residence: -Walton School, Peterborough, UK

August 1984 to September 1985

  • Artist in Residence: University of Bishop Grosse Teste, Lincoln, United Kingdom
  • The University hosted an exhibition of the artwork produced during the residency programme. The programme included artist workshops with honours students across various faculties; artist seminars; and presentations to students and staff in addition to developing my practice among Honours and Postgraduate students.

From 1985– 1986

  • Artist In Residence: -Collaborated with Bedford Borough Council and Bedfordshire County Council to establish an artist-in-residency programme in Bedford County Library that documents the residents’ daily lives.
