Inside the studio, Spring 2024
Since the 1990s, I’ve been exploring processes that lend surface change to the paintings as they dry over time. It’s a method that creates tension between chance and control. Earthy pigments are suspended in liquid solutions that interact with each other when they are applied separately at intervals. The luminosity and 3D quality of the paintings intensify when exposed to natural sunlight or studio lighting.
All works are painted in mixed media; the size ranges are between 2 x 2 and 2 x 2.5 metres.
