Giant Fish & Jumbos: Exhibitions, 1987 and 1988
Giant Fish & Jumbos was exhibited at the Winter Gardens Museum, Sunderland, and the Washington Arts Centre, Tyne and Wear, in 1987 and 1988. It commemorates the enthusiasm and vision that drove the Art Studio’s inception. “We would invite people from outreach sessions to work with us at the converted offices near the city centre in Sunderland. It took almost a year to find premises suitable enough.” The work of Chris Sell and Derek Hill inspired the show’s title. Juliette Horsley, Tyne and Wear Museum’s arts officer, curated the exhibition at the Winter Gardens Museum in collaboration with the Tyne and Wear Museum Service. Photography is by Keith Pattison.
