DEREK HILL – ARTIST

Derek Hill is an artist based in the Northeast of England. The artwork selected focuses on his development since 1986 and represents an unfaltering stream of exceptional work that Hill has produced since his time at the Royal College in the 1970s. and early 80s. He has been persistent in linking his art production to collaborative projects with professional artists and non-professionals alike. For example, “Flaw” at The Art Studio from 1986–2012 and Hidden Kingdoms, Shifting Worlds 2015–present, at the CBCB, Newcastle University. A featured homepage presents a short slideshow of a cross-section of artwork. There are brief, detailed descriptions of collaborations and information about exhibitions, background, achievements, and reviews in the drop-down menu.

The three main collections are painting, etching, and drawing, each with its own set of categories and subcategories. For example, the “Flaw” collection has six, while Shifting Worlds has two, and the Etchings collection has four. The Drawings category, which includes “Machine” can be found in the Archives. There are links to film sketches for future installations that can be seen on YouTube.
